At B&W, I have been in charge of structural design on a wide variety of projects including the design of industrial and utility environmental equipment, flue and ducts, piping, structural steel, and platforms.
Summary
Structural design based on governing codes, standards and engineering practices: ASCE 7, AISC, ASME, etc.
Utilized analysis software including STAAD Pro, SAP2000 and Abaqus
Performed stability analysis per AISC 360 on various steel structures
Created 3D models of structures for design, detailing and analysis
Lead engineer on design of modular fabric filter baghouse
Lead on department initiative to optimize workflow between designers and engineers when using a central 3D model during all design phases
Developed software to expedite tedious engineering tasks and designs saving numerous engineering hours resulting in cost savings for the department
I was a graduate assistant for Dr. Gunjin Yun in the Intelligent Structural Engineering and Health Monitoring Lab (ISEHML) where I was in charge the of development and research of the Self-OPTIM framework, an inverse methodology to determine material parameters using experimental data.
Summary
In charge of development and research of the Self-OPTIM framework, an inverse methodology to determine material parameters using experimental data.
Created a framework for stochastic realizations of material distributions.
Utilized TCP/IP protocols to parallelize computers to minimize Abaqus analysis times.
Masters Thesis
The Self-Optimizing Inverse Methodology For Material Identification and Distributed Damage Detection

As an engineering co-op at Jones-Stuckey, I was able to work on both bridge and roadway projects. My experience was invaluable and I learned a lot about engineering and analysis of bridges.
Summary
Analyzed various types of bridges for the purpose of load rating
Field inspections of existing bridges for the purpose of analysis and ratings
Developed plans, details, and quantity calculations for both structural and roadway projects for ODOT and local clients
Provided additional technical expertise to help create add-ins for Excel spreadsheets using C#
At Buckeye Drafting I was able to be involved in the design and development of plans on both residential and commercial projects. My work here is what brought me to structural engineering because Buckeye Drafting would often work with engineers on projects.
Summary
Developed plans and designs for residential and commercial structures
Helped create and maintain the company’s website
